Shaquille O’Neal recently shared his views on Joel Embiid, who is not worthy of playing in his NBA days
The four-time NBA champion is considered by many to be one of the league’s most dominant players.
His abilities in paint have instilled fear in his enemies.
After a brilliant NBA career, the Hall of Fame has been working with “NBA Inside” to do things around the league.
He often commentes on his thoughts on the game, and they are not always common to players.
O’Neill reveals that he once went to Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid, but his response made him convinced that the players would not survive in his time.
Shaq and Zach Randolph were debating which players of the current generation would survive in their time.
When Randolph suggests Embiid’s name, O’Neill refuses to give him the realization that he can play in their time by telling him why.
“I came to him one day, and his response was, ‘Everyone should not play more than that,’ “I’m like what you’re talking about.
O’Neill is one of the best centers, and his thoughts will raise concerns for Philadelphia fans.
Embiid is correct, the game has changed, but if you’re a big guy who can impose your will, the team doesn’t need to implement complicated offensive schemes.
What makes it better for Embiid is that he has the skills and is able to adapt the game to his skill set.
The 76ers began the “process” to compete for the championship around 2013.
Embiid was drafted as part of it in 2014 and was expected to change things in Philadelphia.
It took time to make the team competitive, but around 2017 the team was well built and ready to compete in the East.
But they are always short, whether it’s a close playoff defeat or an injury issue.
The team has not achieved good fortune. This includes Embiid, who suffered many injuries throughout his NBA career.
In the 2023 season, Embiid won an MVP award and appeared to have everything the 76ers needed to win.
They were left short again after a horrifying Game 7 performance with the Boston Celtics in the second round.
Embiid never passed his second round in his time with the 76ers. This was expected to change last season with the arrival of Paul George.
The center had another injury-prone season and things didn’t go well for the 76ers.
He also links to moves away from the 76ers, which La Lakers also involve.
Embiid certainly dominates, but his ability to maintain fitness throughout the season has a big question mark.
Embiid, who underwent surgery on his knee, had time to recover in the extended offseason. This is a great boost for him.
The 76ers are not expected to be any worse than last season, but Embiid needs to ensure he is in his best form.
There are players like Paul George and Ty Maxey out there, but it’s a star and his rule is going to get over the line if the 76ers are competitive.
