Manchester United are reportedly willing to sell Bruno Fernandes to Bayern Munich for at least £40 million.
This is a shockingly low offer for Fernandes, who has been the club’s best player in recent years and one of the best attacking midfielders in world football.
However, according to TEAMtalk, Manchester United’s hands may be a bit tied as the Portugal international is reluctant to move to the Saudi Pro League club.
Bayern have been named as a likely option for Fernandes, which would likely mean a significantly lower transfer fee for the 31-year-old.
Bruno Fernandes moves to Manchester United, big blow
Ideally, United would want to make sure they keep Fernandes, even if he is not getting any younger, but if that is not possible, they would want to sell him to a Saudi club to secure big funds.
Losing a player of Fernandes’ quality to another major club in Europe for just £40m looks like a potential disaster for the Red Devils, as they would hardly have enough money to find a suitable replacement.
According to Indi Kaira, MUFC could previously make up to £100m from selling Fernandes, with two big-name replacements being looked at…
However, it appears that Saudi Arabia is currently out of the picture for Fernandes. Fernandes may understandably want to remain in Europe after underperforming during his time at Old Trafford.
Bruno Fernandes could be a great signing for Bayern
Even if he doesn’t arrive at his peak, Fernandes looks like he could be a great signing for Bayern, especially if Bayern only have to pay £40m for him.
The former Sporting Lisbon man is a prolific scorer from midfield and one would imagine he would be at ease in the Bundesliga, a weaker league than the Premier League where Bayern tend to dominate.
It will be interesting to see what Fernandes can achieve at Bayern, as it could finally give him the chance to win the league title and maybe even the Champions League.
