According to Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin, in major league baseball, no one compares to Los Angeles superstar Shohei Ohtani.

On a 6-1-1 podcast hosted by former Phillies teammates Jimmy Rollins and Ryan Howard, Rubin explained why he thinks Otani is a global superstar.
“If you look at the numbers he’s doing, what he does for the business, he’s really a unicorn. He’s kind of one.”
In his first year with the , Otani had one of the best offensive performances in sports history. Otani unanimously won the most valuable player in the National League and became the first exclusive designated batter to win an award.
He is also the first player in MLB history to unanimously acquire three MVPs. Otani made more history by opening 50 home runs, 50 stolen base clubs, finishing the season with 54 home runs and 59 stolen bases.
Otani’s performance proved why the were worth all the $700 million deal they signed to him.
Prior to the ‘ trip to Japan, Tyler Glasnow tried to explain the popularity of foreign big names.
“Otani is like the 10 Justin Bieber Times, so it’s probably going crazy,” Glasnow said.
Glasnow was right as the could not escape Otani in Tokyo, as they controlled the signs everywhere.
“We are fanatics and we work with 5,000 individual athletes,” Rubin said.
