With permanent injuries to the pitching staff and, most specifically, the starter, the Los Angeles are eagerly awaiting the mound debut of the shoe hei ohtani.
Otani’s recovery from elbow surgery was cautious and systematic. It is expected that we will consider the money invested in him courtesy of the $700 million worth of 10-year contract he signed last year.

Some theorize that Otani’s value is most commonly used as a batter.
While that’s controversial, MLB Pundit Bob Nightengale offered a very interesting take on the iconic ball player.
“You’ll want to know what will happen next year,” Knightgale told Snation’s Doug McCain. “I think he’ll be in the rotation again in 2026. Then I’ll see what happens. I think his pure love is the same as the batter. So if he gives up on pitching it’s attractive for a few years. Will they put him in the outfield?
After spending time as a Japanese outfielder, Otani crossed the Pacific to the US. Nightengale believes it is a path worth pursuing and could be in one other possible position.
“And if he’s not in the outfield, when Freddie Freeman retires, you can certainly put him in a base.”
Ultimately, as many theorized, Night Engale believes Otani’s days as a starting pitcher can really be numbered given how deadly he is on the plate.
“I think there’s one more after this. I’ll see what happens when you have a job stoppage or something like that in 2026-2027, and I think that’s the case.
