Despite getting off to a slow start in the first three games of the series, Ohtani turned heads in the NLCS, leading Los Angeles back to the World Series for the second straight year.
This is Ohtani’s first postseason MVP award, as Tommy Edman won NLCS MVP last year and Freddie Freeman earned World Series honors. Ohtani, who single-handedly won Game 4 and a dominant victory in LA, could not have been more deserving.
Overall, Ohtani went 5-for-14 (.357 batting average), three home runs, and four RBIs in the NLCS. As a pitcher, he won with six shutout innings and 10 strikeouts.
