Benel Dariush has stopped spending time on his cell phone.
After suffering brutal knockouts in the first round, Darish bounced back with a huge unanimous decision over Renato Moicano in his last fight. Now, he’s looking to use that momentum to take on Benoit Saint-Denis at UFC 322 next month.
With a busy martial arts career, a wife, and two daughters, things can get very hectic for the Dariush family. In a recent interview with Helen Yee, the No. 9 ranked lightweight contender gave insight into how she juggles it all.
As it turns out, it’s as easy as putting down your phone.
“Honestly, I have enough time to do everything if I don’t spend too much time on my phone,” Darish said. “It’s not that difficult. I have enough time to prepare for the match. I have enough time to take care of my children. I have enough time to train, take care of my wife and everything else. Just don’t waste time on things that aren’t important.”
“Delete apps. It’s not rocket science. Delete apps. Don’t spend too much time on apps. If you don’t have an app on your phone, you won’t look at it. This is what happened to me. I deleted an app, and then I opened my phone and I was just staring at my phone. And I thought, ‘What am I doing here?'” And eventually you’ll get over that too. ”
Overall, Beneil Darish is 17-6-1 under the UFC banner, with his most significant wins coming against Tony Ferguson and Mateusz Gamlot. Unfortunately, two losses to Charles Oliveira and Arman Tsarukian set him back.
Still, an impressive performance against the God of War in New York should put him right back in title talks.
