Amidst the Los Angeles ‘ constant pitching problems this season, the lack of outfield depth has often been pushed to the side when examining the defending champions.

With the trade deadline coming up for next month, several key outfielders linked to LA have brought star power to Stadium.

But one outfielder who is not linked to LA that makes no sense is Pittsburgh Pirate outfielder Brian Reynolds.

Recently, the Pirates, part of the trade forecast, have almost always included Phenom starting pitcher Paul Skens, but USA Today’s Bob Knight Engale has put those rumours on the ground, claiming that Bucs is still a seller at the deadline.

“The Pittsburgh Pirates are totally blaming all interest from the teams who want to engage in trade negotiations for Ace Paul Skens, but we hear offers from all players other than him and outfielder Onir Cruz.”

Knowing that Skenes and Cruz are out of the question, Reynolds can fit the well, but it’s proven to be down years now.

Reynolds is a career .273 batter who hit .235 in 2025 thanks to a slow start. He stolen exactly 24 home runs in 2021, 2023 and 2024, and in 2022 he smashed the 27 out of the park.

However, in his final 12 games, Reynolds is hitting .341 with 1.000 OPS. He added a home run and nine RBIs to that span.

Defensively, Reynolds isn’t very suitable for the .

The 30-year-old outfielder is currently being scored in the 10th percentile of eligible fields with a negative out of -3 above the average ranking. Alternatively, he has above average arms ranked in the 66th percentile of active fields.

Reynolds appears to have made offensive progress this season, but depending on what the potential returns look like, another responsibility for defense – a mere three seasons, eight-year, $106.75 contract, may not be worth it at this point in the ‘ season.

If the want to bet on his bats coming, he would be an obvious upgrade to Michael Comfort. However, Conforto will be on Hook only this year, while Reynolds is in the middle of a major contract.
