The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced its male athlete candidates in July 2025 on Wednesday, August 6th.
India and England have created a thrilling test series that ended in a 2-2 draw. In particular, the blue man was drawing a tour of England 2021-22 with the same margin. Since England won in India during the 2012-13 tour, the rivalry has not been able to win a Test series in this rivalry.
Shubmangill among the candidates for the July ICC Player of the Month
Shubman Gill has had an exceptional month in the Indian Test Series in the UK. He averaged 94.50 and scored 567 runs in three games. He registered scores of 269 and 161 in his second Test. His 430 runs tally in that match is the second highest ever in a single test, only after Graham Gooch’s 456.

Shubman Gill struggled in his third Test, but bounced back in his fourth Test at Old Trafford, winning the 2nd Century (103) that helped India pull out the game. He helped secure a 2-2 result in the series.
The 25-year-old stepped up in the presence of Virat Kohli and provided much needed stability. Due to Shubman Gill’s massive score under pressure and his leadership qualities, Gill is a strong contender for the ICC Player of the Month Awards.
Ben Stokes competes with Shubman Gill for the prestigious ICC award
Ben Stokes offered an all-around performance during the July leg of the Test series. He averaged 50.20 and scored 251 runs, earning 12 wickets with 26.33 in just three games. His contributions were important in helping England take a 2-1 lead before missing the final Test at the Oval.
Stokes was selected as a player in the match in two consecutive games. He won the 50s at Lords to lead England to a 22-run victory in India. In his fourth Test in Manchester, he produced one of his best performances, scored five wickets and 141 runs to help England post the mammoth total.
The English skipper bowled long spells and provided important breakthroughs to change momentum in courtesy of his team. His leadership proved essential throughout the series. Stokes is also expected to become a strong candidate for the ICC Player of the Month Awards.
Wiaan Mulder wins a nomination for ICC Player of the Month in July
Wiaan Mulder won an ICC Player of the Month nomination in July after an outstanding all-round performance in the South African Test Series against Zimbabwe. He captained the side for the first time in format during the series.
The all-rounder grabbed the headline with an unbeaten 367 in the second Test – the highest individual score by South Africans in Test history.
Over the two-match series, the Mulder Amassed 531 averaged 265.50 in the first Test, including 147. He also took seven wickets, including a four wicket haul in the opening game, contributing to the ball. His all-around brilliance won him a Series Award player.
