Liverpool hopes to sign Crystal Palace defender Marc Gech in the January transfer window.
They wanted to sign the 25-year-old in the summer, but that move fell apart in the end. He completed his medical checks for the Premier League champions, but Crystal Palace refused to leave because he failed to sign a replacement.
Liverpool hopes to acquire Marc Gech
Liverpool hopes to sign him in the coming months, but how things will progress remains to be seen. According to Sky German reporter Florian Plettenberg, they have a very specific interest in the English defender and are doing everything they can to secure the deal in January.
Barcelona and Real Madrid are also listed as potential transfer destinations.
The Reds need to sign a contract with Guehee
They are in desperate need of a quality center defender, especially after Giovanni Leoni’s injuries. The young defender was excluded from playing this season. Liverpool currently has only three reliable center defenders. They need more quality in that area of the pitch. For them, 25 years old is probably a special player. Plus, Ibrahima Konate hasn’t achieved any overwhelming results this season. Guehe could compete with him for a starting position, and perhaps he could be upgraded.
The French national team’s contract will also expire at the end of this season. Liverpool needs to prepare for his future without him. England International could fill that hole. Guehe has been labelled as an “exceptional” player up until now.
The 25-year-old will also be tempted by a transfer to a big club. He will likely feel he will complete his move to Liverpool in January. With his contract expires in the summer, Crystal Palace is currently under severe pressure to sell him for a reasonable amount in January. They wouldn’t want to lose a player like him for free. It remains to be seen how the situation will unfold.
