Manchester United are preparing for a major change in the goalkeeping division, and Gianluigi Donnaruma is on their radar.

After finishing 15th in the Premier League during the 2024/25 season and missing out on European competitions, the club is now undergoing a major rebuild. At the heart of that rebuild is the goalkeeper’s position.

Andre Onana needs to be replaced

Andre Onana was heavily criticized for his mistakes last season. Manchester United is currently accepting an offer of around £20 million to the Cameroon goalkeeper. Despite interest from other clubs, Onana wants to remain in the Premier League and prove. However, coach Reuben Amorim is still looking for a new No. 1.

Sources close to the situation have notified us Catch off side Gianluigi donnarumma is one of the top names on Manchester United’s list of contenders. PSG has been negotiating with him for over a year on a new contract. Donnarumma has earned a net salary of 7 million euros and a bonus of 3 million euros, but the club’s offer did not meet him. He decided not to renew the deal and had only one year left in the contract, so PSG decided to sell him this summer.

Italian International has been labelled as a “great” player by his teammates, and there’s no doubt that he is world class in his position. He helped PSG win the UEFA Champions League last season.

They plan to bring in Lucas Chevalier of Lille as his successor. Manchester United and Manchester City are closely monitoring the situation.

Lucas Chevalier played 50 games last season and was named Ligue 1 Goalkeeper of the Year. The reel is looking for a fee of around 30 million euros. In addition to PSG, clubs such as Manchester United, Newcastle, Aston Villa and Barcelona have also tracked his progress.

Diogo Costa, captain of FC Porto, is another strong candidate. The 25-year-old keeper dreams of playing in the Premier League, and Manchester United is interested in signing him.

All three goalkeepers have done very well for their respective clubs and they could prove to be a great addition. It will be interesting to see Manchester United finally sign.
