Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United are among those interested in a €60 million move for RB Leipzig centre-back Castello Lukeva.
The France international shined during his time in the Bundesliga, establishing himself as one of Europe’s top young defenders.
As reported here by Daily Briefing, this has led to the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea showing strong interest in Lukba.
My sources have explained to me that Lukuba could leave Leipzig for less than 90 million euros, and that the German side would be willing to accept around 60 million euros.
Liverpool first turned their attention to Lukuba in the summer and although the Reds remain keen, they could face competition for the 22-year-old.
Castello Lukeva transfer information arrived this morning
My source told me: “Lukeva has a release clause worth 90 million euros, which the club considers too high, but anyway this is mainly symbolic and the actual offer is around 60 million euros.
“Liverpool like him, but you could also add Chelsea, Man United, Newcastle and Real Madrid to that list.”
Liverpool are at risk of losing Ibrahima Konate as his contract nears expiration, and Lukaba could make sense as the perfect replacement if the LFC player ends up leaving.
Should Lukba choose Liverpool or Chelsea?
Lukaba looks like exactly the player Liverpool need to strengthen their depth at the back, but he would also be a key upgrade to Chelsea’s current defenders.
The Blues need to improve the likes of Trevor Chalobah and Tosin Adarabioyo, but injury issues with Wesley Fofana and Levi Colwill are a major concern.
It will be interesting to see if Lukuba ends up preferring one of these teams or if he looks for another team as his next move.
