Chelsea reportedly first discussed this week with Jorge Mendes about the potential transfer moves of AC Milan forward Rafael Leo.
Portugal International is famous and world-class talent, and fans of the blues will certainly be excited to see him come to Stamford Bridge.
But things are not yet at a particularly sophisticated stage, according to Simon Phillips, and despite some talks with Mendes, Chelsea also has other targets they think about.
Leao is probably a popular name for Chelsea fans, and many will feel that many need to close the statements of such proven players.
The CFC has focused on attracting younger players under this ownership, but so far, there have been complex results and Leao will likely be a step in the right direction to help bring the club back to the top.
Rafael Leo is on Chelsea’s radar, but Jamie Gittense remains something to watch
But like Leao, Phillips reports that Borussia Dortmund’s talented young English winger Jamie Gittens is a player like the West London Giants.
Gitens is young and has not been proven very well at a very high level, but he has long been considered a highly promising talent.
But at some point, Chelsea must stop thinking about their future and put together a team that can win the trophy in the next year or so.
Talents like Cole Palmer, Levi Colwill, Noni Madueke and Malo Gusto are constantly improving and are expected to deliver silver products soon.
Some argue that it’s easier for them to do that if someone like Leao is on board.
The 25-year-old has won a Serie A between Milan and Super Coppa Italiana, so perhaps he can help Chelsea take that final step towards the main trophy.
