The South African women’s rugby team will need to face France on the World Cup group stage this weekend, but they have already made it to the quarterfinals and say they don’t care who is facing in the final eight.
The team made history by reaching their first World Cup knockout stage when they beat Brazil and Italy in group play.
Regardless of the outcome, they will enter the lodging with enthusiasm for either New Zealand or Ireland, Assistant Laurian Johannes Haupt said on the SA Rugby website.
“We want to play the best. In this case, we’re playing No. 4 (France). Then, a week later, we’re playing No. 3 or No. 5 in the world. That’s what we’ve come.”
Regarding the French clash this weekend, Johannes Haupt said they have made some tactical and personnel changes from the side that defeated Italy.
“It would be ridiculous to leave the direct, physical approach that has worked so well over the last few months, but we will wash out the team three weeks on the tour.
“The good thing is that everyone is keen to go out and prove that our performance is sustainable, and the massive support we get from our home is justified and praised.”
