Stamp Fairtex has returned to the fight game to lose weight.
Over the past few years, Stamp has become an Asian megastar, winning multiple world titles under one championship banner, including One Atomweight Kickboxing and Muay Thai Championships.
Today, she sits on the atomic-grade MMA throne after winning an incredible body shot KO with Ham So-hee in September 2023 to claim the vacant crown.
Recently, Stamp sat down with former UFC and one title holder Demetrious Johnson, talking all about combat sports. She regularly competed in Thailand when she was a teenager, but Stamp revealed that she had decided to go on another fight, mainly because she had taken a few extra pounds away from the sport.
Johnson: “And then you came back to the fight because you wanted to lose weight? Because you said you’re fat?”
Stamp: “Yes.”
Johnson: “Okay, sorry to hear that. So you’re fat so you’re back to the fight? No one put pressure on you to fight again, you just said, “I’m fat, do you think I’ll give it a shot?”
Stamp: “No one expects to come back for a fight. Really. Yeah, I like it. Because I want to cut… I talk to my uncle. He said, “Do you want to keep fighting?” I say “Yes.” Then he says, “Okay, so we should start again.” Yeah, we run hard, run everything hard.
Stamp FairTex will return to action on August 1st
Originally, the stamp was set to defend one atomic-grade MMA world title against former training partner Denice Zamboanga at 167 in June. Sadly, the fight didn’t come true as Stamp suffered from a Meniscus that burst during training.
Since then, Stamp has undergone surgery and has already returned to scheduled scrap gym training with Zamboanga, scheduled for Friday, August 1st.
Zamboanga will enter the match as one interim atomic-grade MMA champion, the title he won in January with Alyona Rassohyna’s dominant performance.
