Stephen A. Smith suggested that the Houston Rockets bring Kevin Durant’s former star teammate to the team.
The Phoenix Suns have decided to trade Kevin Durant for the Houston Rockets in exchange for Jaylen Green, Dillon Brooks, the 10th and fifth second round picks in the 2025 NBA Draft.
There were four other teams who also inquired about KD, but Suns decided to go along with Rockets’ offer.
Miami Heat fans weren’t very pleased after learning what the franchise had offered to two-time champions.
This means Kevin Durant will play next year with the young duo Amen Thompson and Alperen Senggan.
However, ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith asked Rockets to welcome another exciting player after KD’s deal.
SAS responded quickly to the deal with a positive response, and named the Rockets as one of their title contenders for the upcoming season.
He continued it in another tweet. There, Smith suggested that the Rockets bring former KD teammate Russell Westbrook to the team.
His tweet read: “With Dillon Brooks gone, why not chase after Russell Westbrook? The man is still a warrior. He hasn’t stepped back from anyone.
“You can’t underestimate his toughness and reliability. I’m not saying that it’s going to happen, but I don’t mind seeing this for Kevin Durant and the Houston Rockett. In hell with all the nonsense of the past.
Former MVP Westbrook played with the Denver Nuggets last season.
He declined player options in the franchise and as a free agent, Smith suggested that Rocket add him to the roster.

The Rockets have a talented roster and KD is now available. They become the power of the West.
But the point guard spot is when you need it to get more options.
Fred Vanvriet is the final year of his contract, and extensions will be expensive to promote.
He certainly deserves it for his contributions, but still he needs another option that he can enter as a backup to him.
Westbrook proved that in his stint with the Nuggets, he wasn’t a teammate but he still had a lot of basketball left.
He made some big plays for the Nuggets and won many praise from his coach and his teammates.
The Rockets have a great core, but adding players like Westbrook adds value to the team.
He puts the utmost effort into all his possessions and, once he comes out of the bench, he cannot replicate the level of energy he brings.
Russ is also a great mentor and can help Reed Shepherd a lot.
KD and Westbrook were one of the best duos that took time together with OKC Thunder.
The spot available on the roster and Westbrook contract are likely to be the veteran’s minimum, so the Rockets can swing and bring the former MVP to Houston on their second stint.
