The Golden State Warriors got off to a great start to the season by defeating the Los Angeles Lakers.
Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler proved to be one of the most dynamic duos in the game. The Golden State Warriors also got great contributions from other players.
Jonathan Kuminga started and played his role well, and Buddy Hield shined off the bench.
However, there is another Warriors player that this NBA analyst has his eye on.
The Warriors acquired Al Horford just before the start of the season.
Horford is 39 years old, but still provides a key skill set the Warriors need. He is also a big body that adds some nice size to their lineup.
Stephen A. Smith even went so far as to say that the veteran would be huge for Golden State’s title chances.
“I’m keeping an eye on Al Horford, and I think this brother could be a huge deal for the Golden State Warriors.
“He’ll be 40 in June, but he’s already a champion and has been to the NBA Finals twice.
“We have the size, we have the experience, we have the championship pedigree, and when you combine that with young guys like Podzemski and Kuminga, you see Draymond, Jimmy Butler, Steph Curry… we’ve got something here.”
Despite the aging roster, the Warriors looked great in the opening game.
Curry is still playing at a high level, and Butler has proven he’s the ultimate partner.
The Warriors also showed a strong enough supporting cast, especially if they can stabilize Hield and the rest of the team.
The Warriors should not be ignored in the West as they are a team that can make some noise.
