Stephen Curry continues to express his confidence in the potential for the Golden State Warriors’ championship.
The superstar recently shared optimism about next season, believing that Jimmy Butler’s first full campaign will have a major impact on the team.
Stephen Curry’s argument holds merit given Butler’s contribution to the Golden State Warriors, which reached the Western Conference semi-finals last season.
The team wants to achieve better integration and healthier.
However, former ESPN sportscaster David Jacoby believes the Warriors’ 2022 championship will represent Curry’s final ring.
He argues that unlike Kevin Durant, Curry made the mistake of choosing loyalty over competitiveness.
“I love those who stay for the whole career and feel Steph will be one of those guys. And I think he will sacrifice his abilities to win another championship or his ability to go to the finals to stay in the Warriors jersey for his career,” Jacoby explained.
“Do you know who’s going to do that? Kevin Durant, who just joined the two species. And they’re a young team and everyone will make a leap next year, so they’re obviously better on paper.”
Jacoby pointed to the improvements of the Houston Rockets as evidence of the Warriors’ lack of competitiveness. “The Rocket is better than last year, and I went to my toes with the warrior in Game 7.”
Kevin Durant left Golden State in 2019 with two championships and a Final MVP award, but has not reached the final since.
His move to Houston offers hopes for an updated championship, along with the Rockets’ promising young core and impressive depth.
The Rockets pushed the Warriors to seven games despite the youth last season. A potential rematch could have different outcomes in another year of development.
The Warriors face the challenges of roster building before competing at the highest level.
They must resolve Jonathan Cuminga’s contract status and supplement his aging core by adding experienced contributors.
If these issues are resolved, future playoff matchups of Durant’s Rocket and Curry Warriors could provide a compelling storyline.
