Stephen Curry says his warrior's pre-match routine and recovery "takes more time"

Stephen Curry has been an outstanding player since the 2009-10 NBA season. Despite the wobble early in his career, he became one of the most iconic players of his generation, complete with four championships. As he ages, retirement is approaching.

The Golden State Warriors have become one of the most iconic modern NBA franchises. Stephen Curry is the main reason behind his success, with his incredible three-point shooting and leadership. With four championships in his career, Curry has achieved the highest ever position in the Bay Area and is iconic in the league.

Unfortunately, all good things need to be nearing an end, and curry is approaching retirement with every single day. The Warriors know that their windows will soon be closed, so they want to maximize the timeline of older players.

Curry knows his retirement will be on the card soon, so he wants to continue fighting for another championship. As he gets older, he struggles with some injuries that could continue to pop out, like his recurrent thumb illness.

There is no set timetable for a curry career, but he knows the time will come when he needs to leave. While someone like LeBron James shows players can thrive past their 40s, Curry may not be the same as James, one of the most physically talented athletes in history.

Curry is 37 years old and will turn 38 in March 2026. He is in his late 30s and is tough in the NBA. Although statistics have soaked since the previous season, curry still plays like a top-notch point guard. He is still on the same level as modern superstars like Shy Gilgaus Alexander and Luka Donsic.

Now that he is in his late 30s, Curry himself knows what’s in place for him. In interviews, he noted that he sometimes thinks about retirement.

“There are no clues. I know it’s closer than yesterday. It’s just a matter of acknowledging that it’s fun. The more I talk about it, the more I appreciate what I get in preparing myself,” Curry told ESPN.

“I admit it takes a little longer to warm up before practice or before the game. Recovery can take a little longer. But such is a privilege you’ve acquired for all the work I put into it. I try not to put timestamps or anything like that.

Advances the 2025-26 season, the Western Conference has two outstanding teams: the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Denver Nuggets. They solidified themselves as favorites for their roster and their groundbreaking players.

Gilgeous-Alexander and Nikola Jokic have played in the top two MVP races of the past two seasons. They were able to make noise again in the West as the biggest candidates.

Despite all the hype behind these two teams, opportunities exist for other teams. One of them is the Golden State Warriors, a team with a championship experience and an eager to win one final championship.

“I’m excited to be on the floor with him (Stef). There’s no need to chase him and compete for him. The fact that we’re on the same side is something special to me.”

Unfortunately, their older age may be a problem. Curry will become a star player who wants to continue leading this team. At the same time, they have Green and Al Horford. They are both mature players who can make a difference on the defensive side.

Jimmy Butler may not be the champion yet, but he may be more hungry than any other player on the Warriors.

With all these positive qualities and head coaches like Steve Kerr, the dark horse run potential is bright. It’s challenging, but they will reach a place where Curry can take them in his 17th season in the league.
