Steve Kerr believes one of the Warriors’ most important stars is starting to become a problem for the team.
The Golden State Warriors have been on a roll at the beginning of the 2025-26 NBA season, getting off to a great start with a 2-1 record.
The Warriors showed the level of toughness and perseverance needed to win it all with a win over the Denver Nuggets, proving they are title contenders.
But the loss to the Portland Trail Blazers reminded everyone that the Warriors are not invincible. Steve Kerr’s decision to rerotate the Warriors’ lineup may have hurt the Warriors.
According to him, one of his most important players is not currently in the best of form and he hopes that things will change in the coming days.
When Steve Kerr spoke to reporters before the Golden State Warriors game against the Memphis Grizzlies, the topic of Brandin Podzemski came up.
Coach Kerr admits that Podzemski hasn’t lived up to his usual stellar standards and believes the star is trying to do too much in too little time. However, he believes Podzemski will get back to form quickly.
“He’s not at his best right now. He’s putting a little pressure on him. Brandin always wants to be great. Sometimes he just needs to relax and be good. That’s what makes him play great.”
“I think he’s just progressing, just like he did last season. He’s a great player and he’s going to make us better. He’s going to turn things around.”
The Golden State Warriors have a lot of confidence in Brandin Podzemski, and despite his poor form, they have him named the starter against the Memphis Grizzlies.
This could be a contributing factor to the slightly smaller lineup that the Memphis Grizzlies play, as they have been plagued by several injuries.
Podzemski recently revealed that his ambition is to be Steph Curry’s successor, a statement many considered “delusional,” but it speaks to what drives him to play as hard as he does.
If Podzemski can get back to form over the next few weeks, he could become an integral part of Steve Kerr’s side for the rest of the season.
