Steve Nash talks seriously about the Phoenix Suns’ “cultural reset” ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season.

The Phoenix Suns will start the season without the dynamic duo of Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal, who left the team in the offseason.

Additionally, the Suns have a new head coach named Jordan Ott. While many question the Suns’ decision, former NBA star Steve Nash supports the move.

Despite having a star-studded roster, the Suns didn’t have much success in the postseason under KD, Beal, and Devin Booker.

However, the Suns are cleaning up their roster ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season, and Nash shared his thoughts on the decision on “The Pat McAfee Show.”

“I think the first thing we want is a cultural reset. They ran for the fences the last few years and didn’t do very well in the playoffs. They decided to reset the organization,” Nash said.

He added, “They have a new coach, they have a new general manager, and they’re just trying to create an environment where players feel like they can grow and develop an identity even if they don’t have the assets.”

Nash also pointed out that the Suns were lucky not to have a draft pick for “many years.” how? Yes, it gives organizations a chance to develop their in-house players into elite stars in the league.

All things considered, the Suns have a mediocre roster heading into the new season. Nevertheless, owner Matt Ishbia defended the team after Bill Simmons’ brutal attitude towards the culture.

As head coach, Ott will be pivotal in helping the Suns back up Ishbia’s huge claim. Naturally, it’s very likely that the rookie HC will do that, as even Nash praised him.

“It’s really exciting to see how our first-year coach here, Jordan Ott, has created an environment where all of our players can work hard.

“They’re competing. They’re competitive, but they feel like they have an opportunity and a path to grow. That’s all you can do at this stage, at this growth arc,” Nash said.

Finally, Nash predicts the Suns will surprise the NBA with their competitive spirit.

“They’re going to be a little bit surprising because they’re going to be very competitive. They’re going to share the ball. They’re going to play hard and the Valley is going to really enjoy watching them play.”

The Suns will open the season against the Sacramento Kings, and it will be interesting to see how accurate Nash’s predictions are.
