Why Hugo Ekitike refused the chance to join Man UnitedEkitike has an impressive start for Liverpool

When Hugo Ekitike decided to move the club this summer, many observers were hoping for interest from most of the European top teams.

However, despite reported approaches from Manchester United and Newcastle, the French forward ultimately chose to commit to Liverpool.

In an interview, Ekitique revealed why he turned down others and chose Anfield, providing insights into both his ambitions and his vision for his next chapter.

Ekitike has revealed that there are multiple offers to consider, including Premier League rivals such as Man United and Newcastle. However, he argues that those overtures were not enough to shake him up, especially when compared to the opportunities presented by Liverpool.

Why Hugo Ekitike refused the chance to join Man United

“This is the best choice for England’s champion,” explained Liverpool No. 22, reported by Liverpool.com.

“For me, they had a great player, the biggest story, that deserves what I was looking for after Frankfurt.

“Yeah, I think it was a good choice for me, yeah, that’s why I chose Liverpool. It was just the best option and I wanted to come.”

For Ekitike, joining Liverpool was an opportunity to signal more than just a transition to a big club, growing under pressure in a competitive environment where expectations are always high.

He believes that his framework, infrastructure and ambitions in Merseyside have provided him with the best chance to continue to thrive.

In nine appearances in all competitions this season, the attacker scored five goals for Arne Slot’s side.

Despite all these goals, Ekitique scored a goal in the Carabao Cup against Southampton, taking off his shirt and celebrating, and there were moments when he forgot without realizing that he was already not booked.

The attacker was sent for his actions, but since the incident he apologised and admitted to being warned in the future.

The early signs are suitable for Liverpool’s Ekichike, but it all depends on how the slot decides to use him along with other new signatures Alexander Isaac.

Meanwhile, Man United decided to lead the attack by signing Benjamin Sesco from RB Leipzig in the summer.
