Sunderland is interested in signing wolf goalkeeper Sam Johnston this summer.
According to journalist Alan Nixon (H/T Sunderland Echo), the goalkeeper is wolves and he is looking for a new start. The 32-year-old is not a regular wolf starter last season and he wants to play more frequently.
The goalkeeper is also linked to Leeds United.
It will be interesting to see if he can secure a move to Sunderland. The former England International has the qualities to improve the Black Cat, and he proved to be a useful acquisition for them.
Given his situation at the Premier League club, he could be used for a reasonable amount.
Coaching appointments help seal the transaction
Meanwhile, Sunderland is approaching goalkeeping coach Neil Cutler. Cutler previously worked with the 32-year-old goalkeeper during his time with the Wolf, but may be able to convince players to join Sunderland.
Kuroneko has secured promotion to the Premier League. The opportunity to join them is appealing to experienced goalkeepers. If they can provide him with the guarantee of the first team, the player may be interested.
It is still unknown how the situation will develop.
Sunderland can use Sam Johnston
Sunderland hopes to do well in the Premier League next season. They try to establish themselves as a patron of the top flight and need a quality player with experience.
The 32-year-old goalkeeper has extensive experience in Premier League football and has proven to be an ideal acquisition at a reasonable price.
Given his situation with the Wolf, it’s fair to assume that the Premier League side is unlikely to get in his way. They could make him move on if there is a proper suggestion at the table. He is not an important player to them and it makes no sense for them to hold him.
