Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson has been linked to a move away from the club during the summer transfer and is ready to sanction his departure.
According to former Premier League Scout Mic Brown, Sunderland plans to sign a new goalkeeper and has recently linked with multiple players. It will be interesting to see if it will end when the 25-year-old leaves Sunderland.
Sunderland could consider selling
“Patterson is a top young goalkeeper and has a good reputation,” he told Soccer Insider.
“Patterson has proven himself to be a good level last year, so it’s doubtful if he wants to be the second choice now.
“From Sunderland’s perspective, it may make sense to cash him out.
“If they have a good offer and they don’t think he’s about to start, it wouldn’t surprise me if they let him go.
“But it all depends on whether they sign a new goalkeeper or not.”
Anthony Patterson links with the exit
He has been linked to clubs like Southampton for the past few weeks. It will be interesting to see if the saints were able to get a deal across the line. They are being relegated to the second division of British football and they will appear to bouncing hard. They need to bring in quality players to do well next season and fight for promotion. Patterson could prove to be a quality long-term investment for them. He will try to establish himself as a key player for the club.
The players have previously linked to top clubs such as Manchester United and Tottenham. It will be interesting to see if any of the Premier League clubs have decided to come for him in the coming weeks.
The 25-year-old has received high praise across the UK and he has a bright future. He will try to play for a big club in the future.
For now, he should try to focus on his development and he must join a club where he has ample opportunity. Normal football is essential to his development.
