Tyrese Halliburton spoke about how players like Giannis Antetocomo and Shy Gilgauss Alexander make life difficult for advocates.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is a player who has gained a very negative reputation among NBA fans. Gilgeous-Alexander is a very talented player, but fans don’t love his style of play.
Many fans claim that OKC Thunder MVP is a “free throw merchant” and refers to frequent trips to the charity stripe. Doris Burke even mentioned Shy’s title during the match.
However, it is difficult to argue that his playing style is not effective. Shy himself doesn’t pay any attention to the “merchant” comments and claims he knows there is more to his game.
Coaches like Michael Malone praise Shay for portraying a foul, but how do NBA players feel about him? Now, Tyreese Halliburton explained how annoying it is to play against Shy, but in no negative ways.
Tailese Halliburton recently appeared in a homemade session. When fans asked him to name some of the most annoying players to play against him, Halliburton gave some great insights.
Shai Gilgeous-All-stars named Alexander and Giannis Antetokounmpo. But what bothers them is their offensive glow and how they can easily reach the free throw line.
“There are a lot of buddies. The best players who consistently reach the free throw line. Those guys are very good when playing against Giannis and Shy.
“They made it perfect to get to the free throw line and scoring. They’re elite, top tier. You don’t like playing against those people.
“Super Humpy Defenders, physical defenders in the world can be annoying too. There are a lot of people. Perhaps the best scorers can be said to be the most annoying. Why are you so talented?”
Halliburton believes that Shy and Giannis are extremely talented, but not as dangerous as the other star he mentioned.
When members of the panel asked Tyreese Halliburton if Stephen Curry resembles Shy and Giannis, the superstar described Curry as something more dangerous.
“About Steph (curry)… Steph can shoot poorly, but your attention is always on him. If he hits it, it’s going to be an avalanche. It’s never going to stop.
“I can’t tell him because I don’t protect Steph, but Andrew Nenbird will probably say Steph is there because he has to chase him there. Steph is one of them.”
Stephen Curry is perhaps the most deadly offensive player in the NBA today. And while there are many similarities between Shy and Steph’s careers, Canadian security guards are not yet at his level.
Perhaps over the next few years, shy can become just as dangerous as curry. Maybe not as a shooter, but as an offensive weapon for his team.
