Los Angeles Closer Tanner Scott has revealed his hopes that his four-year, $72 million contract had an impact on his performance this season.
Scott was featured in 58 games for Los Angeles this season, pitching a 4.64 ERA from 54.1 innings. He has nine blown saves in 2025. The signed Scott in the offseason, following their Sub-2.00 ERA All-Star season with the Miami Marlins and the San Diego Padres.

“People who say no (they don’t feel that) are probably lying,” Scott said. “You always want to be the standard you believe in. Your team and fans are looking at you. When you go south, you never want it. But if baseball is easy, everyone plays it.”
Scott has struggled with consistency this season, especially in the weeks since returning from the injured list. The left-hander made two scoreless outs to mark his return before blew a save against the Arizona Diamondbacks, allowing a walk-off home run against the Baltimore Orioles on his next outing.
In just three appearances, he gave up a walk-off grand slam to Patrick Bailey of the San Francisco Giants.
“I’m not at my norm and my team standards,” Scott said. “I signed here and I feel better, but the year is up and down. You never want it to happen.

He shows his struggle this season, but it appears that Scott has been appearing after giving up that grand slam. He has not allowed him to run on any of his last four outings, and earned a save against the Giants on Friday, which began at Stadium on Friday in the final regular season of the Clayton Car Show.
If Scott can continue to produce these kinds of results, he will become a valuable part of the bullpen that is improving in each game as October approaches.
