Despite having the best records in baseball, the Los Angeles and Andrew Friedman are not satisfied.
As has been the case again and again, Friedman does it all with his power to improve the team’s prospects as a World Series contender. The obvious hope this year is that the New York Yankees will become their first recurring World Series champion since they won three rows between 1998 and 2000.
USA Today’s longtime MLB Pundit Bob Nightengale has suspended future trade deadlines. He has refled on many different topics, including numerous teams. The were naturally mentioned. According to Nightengale, no one is surprised to find out that teams have multiple items on their agenda when it comes to HR targets.
“They are looking for Michael Comfort’s struggle and another outfielder. They want another starter. Yes, Alcantara is the guy they want. The are always looking for help in the bullpen, and they want another slower rescuer like Pete Fairbanks, closer to the Rays.”
Despite the recent improvements in form, Conforto’s struggle is well documented. He was hit with six Homer and 17 runs, hitting .176 in 2018. Dave Roberts still seems to have faith in the veteran outfielder. That being said, if Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts continue their brawl, the lineup will need longer lengths and depths.
Alcantara has returned to the player he once thought was one of the best pitchers in the sport. Although Alcantara’s numbers don’t look very special (4-8 at 6.98 ERA), the underlying analysis suggests a somewhat different story. He allows less than three runs in each of his final four starts.
According to baseball’s Savant, Alcantara averages 97.3 miles per 97.3 miles on fastball. Through a very solid sinker, he also has a higher percentage of ground balls.
Blake Trainen and Brusdahl Graterol are not available yet, so it makes sense that the are interested in the Fairbanks. This year, the right-handed ones were great for the Rays. He earned a 2.03 ERA with 15 saves. Tampa Bay is in the mix of the Al East Division titles alongside the Yankees.
It is still unclear whether the Rays will consider dealing with one of their best saviors. At the same time, Fairbanks became a free agent at the end of the season and swapping him to acquire future assets is very consistent with Tampa’s franchise philosophy.
