It was surprising about six years ago that Marcus Rashford enjoyed one of the biggest moments of Manchester United’s career.
The United Academy alumni had revoked Paris Saint-Germain with that last gasp spot kick, but again won the net at the Parc des Princess during the 2020/21 campaign, collaborating with Solskier to another famous victory.
Something about the League One side seems to bring the best of the 27-year-old. It’s in Aston Villa Colour, but it appears that the inform forward is once again on electricity when confronting Parisien’s outfit.
The Red Devils exile produced particularly prominently the breathtaking assist of the Villa’s third night when the host turned the encounter over his head, simply putting it in a stunning display from the middle of Unite Emery’s side. In fact, it was a vintage Rashford.
Annoyed, for the villains, after a brave crash, they were unable to complete their comeback, but for those returning to Manchester, such a great individual display might be thinking twice about Reuben Amorim’s decision to exile a £300k marksman a week.
But will a return to Old Trafford really be the best benefit of all involved this summer?
Why should Rashford be sold this summer?
As far as Rashford is concerned, the decision to move to Villa Park in February was hardly better. The Midlands side still remained in the top five finish mix in the Premier League, but they also reached the final four of the FA Cup.
Polarization sense has been central to Emery’s plans in recent months, with Ezli Consa’s support last night totaling nine goals involved in just 15 appearances since moving. Who is Jesse Lingard from West Ham United?
Rashford was reborn with claret and blue as he was freed from bondage and scrutiny of being a Manchester United player.
That display confirms Emery’s decision to select his Lone Star again before his fellow countryman Ollie Watkins.
Speaking about Amazon Prime, United legend Wayne Rooney suggested “love” to see Rashford return for the Red Devils next season, but insisted that the player himself would return to the theatre of his dreams.
That said, it was only in December that England International outlined his desire for a “new challenge” after being given a cold shoulder by Amorim.
Certainly, since he found his groove in the villa, why would Rushford risk enduring another stop-start campaign with his parent club?

As for the club itself, it is undoubtedly difficult to refuse the opportunity to mix in the £40 million fee from the villa, a deal representing pure profits.
That said, even if Amorim and Co change their minds, at least they’ve only ever chosen to lend out Rashford, and their homecoming options are still on the table. The same cannot be said for everyone who Ineos has let go…
Man Utd may have made a bigger mistake than Rashford
While the club is pretty much right about moving those players, it seems like a growing theme that players who leave Old Trafford continue to shine elsewhere.
In fact, in the case of Anthony Elanga, the Swedish speedster scored just four goals in United’s 55 games before departing for Nottingham Forest. Meanwhile, David De Gere was number one public opponent with a mistake in the FA Cup final, but was then allowed to leave for anything.
Similarly, things like Antony and Jadon Sancho (now on loan at Real Betis and Chelsea) drew little of the trees following the arrival of £86 million and £73 million respectively.
Even Rashford endured miserably 18 months after scoring just 15 goals for United after the start of the 2023/24 campaign.
But with Scott Matminai, that might be a different story. The Scottish star was actually one of the leading men in Eric Ten Hag before sealing off the £25 million move to Naples in the summer.
In fact, the 28-year-old is a Dutch rescue law that repeatedly delivered goods in an offensive sense, and the rampaging midfielder – who especially won a death brace with Brentford – ended the season with 10 goals in all competitions.
United’s third-highest scorer in 2023/24, McTominay appeared to thrive in a sophisticated midfield berth, following his desire to meet PSR regulations and the pursuit of fellow midfielder Manuel Ugarte.
Ten Hag later admitted that he “doesn’t want” to sell the 6-foot-4 giant, but was “forced” to agree to the decision due to the club’s financial constraints.
As it stands, McTominay became fascinating in Naples in 2024/25. The midfield “Monster,” welcomed by analyst Ben Matinson, was won twice last time to keep Antonio Conte’s side involving the title.
These latest strikes – both were supported by Romell Lukaku and, even less, showed us what Lancaster-born heroes are. Certainly, on his first night, McTominai accused him of deeper before curling the house from outside the area. For his second time, Ex-Red Devil rose above Empoli Defense before deftly heading home.
The new Napoli sense has eight Serie A goals of his name this season, with only Bruno Fernandez able to match that tally for the league goals in Manchester.
McTominay has since picked up from where it was excluded in the previous period. Unlike the exiled Rashford, Ineos made a rare move for United by selling players that were actually formed.
Its bold call seems unaging during the Red Devils’ unprecedented Premier League campaign…
