Aprilia’s test rider Lorenzo Sabadri says that since he last rode, bike Jorge Martin will return when his MotoGP comeback was developed to be “close to his demands.”
Reigning world champion Jorge Martin has only taken 90 laps to the RS-GP since his postseason test at Barcelona last November.
At the 2025 RS-GP, Martin managed just 13 laps on the first day of the Sepang test, then the crash left multiple fractures and forced him to miss the rest of the MotoGP preseason.
Further injuries before the Thai Grand Prix, he passed medical checks on Wednesday, but put him further on the course for his much-anticipated Aprilia debut at next week’s Qatar Grand Prix.
Martin first appeared at the American Grand Prix Weekend, organized as a team building exercise.
Sabadri, who has represented Martin since Thailand, says the experience is good for understanding where the bike has changed since the last time the Spaniard rode it.
“It’s not what he tried in Barcelona and Malaysia, but we’ll approach, develop and approach his demands,” Sabadri reportedly said when Gpone asked him that Bicycle Martin would return.
“On Saturday we updated him and showed him telemetry with the engineers, so he knows everything.
“Was it useful to spend the weekend in the pit? In fact, when you look at other races as a rider, it hurts like hell, but that was good for everyone.”
Under current concession restrictions, Sabadri can make up to six wildcard appearances this season.
However, he admits that he doesn’t know what his race plans will be like with Aprilia in the future.
“I don’t know,” he said of the wildcard outlook.
“The team and constructors know how much I like racing, but I still enjoyed working with the Spanish team and Daniele Romanori.
“Even if I was injured in Argentina, it was a crescendo.”
