Manchester United’s latest defeat to Newcastle United sparked new conversations in various sections of the media.
It was a humiliating defeat for Reuben Amorim and his team, and they once again showed that they lack quality, but also that every level of their team is behind the top teams in the Premier League.
The 4-1 loss at St James Park against Newcastle is even more disappointing for Amorim’s team, who is scheduled to finish the season in the lower half of the Premier League table.
Former Man United defender Gary Neville criticizes the team’s quality and club standards.
Neville has no problem with the team’s efforts, but he feels the club has a clear lack of quality.
He said on NBC Sports, as the Mirror reported:
“They’re not a very good team. That’s easy. We’ve had Manchester United teams over the years. The biggest problem is that they don’t give everything. The problem with the players in this group is that they give everything.
“I don’t think there’s a lack of effort. They’re very below the standards and quality needed at that football club. I can’t imagine anyone other than Bruno Fernandez and Amadodiaro who thinks they’ll wear a hat. The team is of such a poor quality, so it’s a really desperate situation.
Man United need a big summer transfer window
There is no doubt that United teams need more quality and the club has decided to tackle that issue.
The Premier League Giants are risking losing more positions at clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool next season if they can’t significantly improve their team’s level.
It is clear that new additions are needed in attack, midfield, defense and goalkeeping positions.
A similar idea has been reflected by former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer.
Even club captain Bruno Fernandez subtly conveyed the demands of a new midfielder at the club.
