Liverpool is reportedly interested in signing RB Leipzig defender Castello Lukba at the end of the season.
According to Football Insider, the defenders could be sold this summer after German outfits missed out on qualifying for the Champions League next season. He has a £74 million release clause on the deal, but it will be interesting to see if Liverpool is willing to pay.
Liverpool is keen on RB Leipzig’s prospects
“Lukeba is on the list… He’s really boosted his strong reputation since moving to RB Leipzig a few seasons ago,” Pete O’Rourke told Soccer Insider.
“He has a contract until 2029 and has a £74 million release clause, but Leipzig wasn’t qualified for European football next season, so missing Europe will help drive the deal.”
The fact that he can be sold this summer will be a huge boost for the Premier League champions. They need more depth in their defensive units, and the 22-year-old will be a long-term investment for them.
He has previously linked to Manchester United and they believe he is a generational talent. Liverpool should begin planning for the future, especially with club captain Vilgilvandik, in his 30s. It will be interesting to see if they can sign the French defender in the coming weeks.
Castello Lukeba could fantasize the Liverpool switch
The opportunity to participate in Liverpool is also extremely exciting for players. They are one of the largest clubs in the world, and opportunities to participate in them can be difficult to refuse. Liverpool hopes to win another league title next season, and will also be doing well in the UEFA Champions League.
They need quality players and Lukeba helps them tighten up at the back. Liverpool have sometimes looked defensively vulnerable this season. That’s the area of pitch they need to improve.
The reported asking price is very high and Liverpool needs to improve multiple areas of the team. It remains to be seen whether he can afford to sign the French defender in the coming weeks.
