Transfer rumors have been circulating in recent days that Liverpool are interested in signing Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry.
This article was rubber-stamped by reliable German journalist Christian Falk through CF Bayern Insider.
According to Falk, Liverpool have made inquiries about Gnabry along with Juventus, with the Germany international facing an uncertain future at the Allianz Arena.
Gnabry has scored four goals and provided five assists for Bayern so far this season, so the Bavarian giants would probably do well to keep him around.
Bayern ready to offer Serge Gnabry a new contract
Falk reports that Bayern are keen to keep Gnabry at the club, with the Bundesliga champions willing to sign the 30-year-old former Arsenal player to a new two-year deal.
Still, Gnabry will have to be prepared to take a pay cut if he commits to staying with his current employer.
It will be interesting to see if Gnabry decides he wants to do that, or if he feels he has a better offer elsewhere.
We know that clubs, especially in the Premier League, are likely to pay big money, so that could be an advantage if Liverpool decide to step up their interest.
Do Liverpool need Serge Gnabry?
Gnabry could definitely be a useful addition as an upgrade to Codi Gakpo and Federico Chiesa, as Liverpool could probably improve their attacking quality.
At the same time, he doesn’t exactly fit into LFC’s transfer model, as the Merseyside giants often target young players who are yet to reach their peak.
Of course, there may be exceptions to this rule, but we imagine this means Gnabry isn’t necessarily a top priority.
Liverpool have also been linked with other big names such as Michael Oliseh and Antoine Semenyo, who appear to be closer to signing typical Liverpool players than Gnabry.
