England is in a strong position in the first Test thanks to Ben Duckett.
Duckett exhibited batting masterclasses at the ongoing Test Series opener against the Indian team. He hits with great intentions in both innings and takes on a Jaspribumura-led bowling attack with a positive approach.
In the first innings he reached a great half-century, finishing with a 62-run knock from 94 balls and being fired by Jasplit Bumra.
He rose one performance in four innings of the match, putting his team in a dominant position during the 371-run chase.
Duckett completed his century 50 from 66 balls and 121 balls. On the fourth ball in the 40th, Duckett hit four deliveries from Rabindra Jadeha.
Duckett is one of the best all-format players – Dinesh Kartic
Duckett’s ton against India was his sixth Test against India. He became the sixth opener to score four inningtons against India in Test cricket after Jeffrey Stollmeyer (WI, 1953), Desmond Haynes (WI, 1989), Mark Taylor (AUS, 1998), Dimus Karnaratne (SL, 2022) and Zakir Harnan (20222222).
Watching Duckett’s incredible batting show, veteran commentator Hersha Bogle named him England’s best batsman after Joe Root. He said:
“A brilliant batting from Ben Duckett. After Joe Root, the best batter in England. Hopefully he’ll get the credibility he deserves.”
Meanwhile, speaking about Sky Sports, Dinesh Karthik thought Duckett was one of the best all-format players in the world. He said:
“Duckett is one of the best all-format players in cricket around the world, and it can be argued that he is a fluffy shot to raise 100 people.
“He was a master of various sweeps and played strong inverse sweeps despite the deep point fielder being there. He beat him with convincingness.
“At this point, Team India doesn’t mind this rain break. Captain Gill tried a few tricks that didn’t work. We tried out what Duckett played so far. So does Crawley. The UK is in a very strong position.”
Here’s how fans reacted to Ben Duckett’s ton of Leeds:
His sixth century test century, 100 stunning four times from his first Ben Duckett in two innings in England. He was 25 out of 51 balls and has now scored 77 from 70.

Ben Duckett!
102* 121 balls in four innings, without making a fuss. An incredible inning.

The other one chance is, since this is a very high quality inning from Duckett, it’s even better considering that we came in four innings…

Pocket Dynamite – Duckett. His attitude towards batting is really good. Focus on the next ball.
And he played late while facing the boom.

Amazing tons for Duckett.
He plays freely, plays his shots, putting enough pressure on India.
Play, bd. #engvind

An absolute standout century from Ben Duckett. He is a master who scores actively no matter the format, minimizing risk.
Since his test was recalled in December 2022, only one test batter in the world – Joe Root – has scored more runs

A great batting from Ben Duckett. After Joe Root, England’s best batsman. Hopefully he will start to gain the credibility he deserves.
