  • Pecco Bagnaia has not met his biggest potential frustration for the 2025 season

The first five races of the 2025 MotoGP season brought a lot of drama, but also had major disappointments.

All expectations for the preseason were that Ducati factory team duo Marc Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia were on each other’s throats from the first round, which was becoming a fierce battle title battle.

But so far, Marquez has won his first five GPS and all five sprints, but Bagnaia has only one victory in his credits.

After the Spanish Grand Prix, Bagnaia placed Fabio Quartalaro and race winner Alex Marquez (top of the ranking) third with 20 points from the championship lead and 19 points behind Mark Marquez.

Bagnaia complains about some of the issues that hinder the outcome at Ducati in 2025.

In the latest Crash MotoGP podcast, Jordan Moreland, the Crash Social Media Manager and podcast host, believes that Bagnaia needs to pick up the piece when Mark Marquez, given a record of his past at Geres, crashes early in the race.

“It’s his best start to the MotoGP season, but he’s not happy and says he has a different sense of bikes compared to the GP24,” he said.

“He said he can see Alex Marquez riding a GP24 like he did at Geres last year.

“To be honest, I don’t think that’s enough. I know he’s a double world champion. Yes, he’s just 20 points from Alex.

“Sure, he has to be the one picking up pieces? He did it in Kota.

“You can say he’s not happy with it at all.”

Pecco Bagnaia has not met his biggest potential frustration for the 2025 season

Luis Duncan, a senior journalist at Clash, believes Bagnaia is not doing her job and is unhappy with the start of the Ducati rider’s season, due to how good it is that the Double World Champion has shown in recent years.

“There’s a point where you have to own and say, ‘Look, I’m not doing enough work here, I need to ride these issues,'” Duncan said.

“The more you hide behind the excuse, the more weak you will make you as a competitor.

“Pecco Bagnaia fans must accept right now that they are not riding like your great double world champions, like the great double world champions we know.

“He’s not doing what he should be, and that’s a real shame because he has such high hopes for him this year.

“He showed he can get his muscles out, he can really fight (Mark Marquez). We want to see it.

“And that’s really frustrating because Pecco knows what he can do with Mark.

“When Pecco is in his game, when Mark is in his game, it’s great because he knows more than Pecco is heading for the challenge.”
