Michael Porter Jr. began a new chapter in his NBA career after being traded with the Brooklyn Net.
Over the past six seasons, Michael Porter Jr. has been a key star for the Denver Nuggets. However, Porter Jr. ran a terrible run in the 2025 NBA playoffs.
Following that, the Nuggets decided to trade Porter Jr. for the first round of 2032 for Brooklyn Net. In exchange they received Cameron Johnson.
The 27-year-old expressed regret over the move, but he is already beginning to settle for his new team.
The key reason behind Porter Junior’s struggle during the postseason was Grade 2 shoulder tension. The 2023 NBA champions seem to be recovering well from their setbacks.
In fact, Porter Jr. recently took part in his first training with the net, and the 27-year-old made an “hard” entry about it.
“I’m not going to lie. They worked as hard as I’ve ever worked, but I’m making progress,” Porter Jr. said on his YouTube channel. “I’m excited, man. This is a great opportunity. The staff here are amazing.”
After one training in Brooklyn, Porter Jr. admitted that he hasn’t worked that hard throughout his entire career.
The talented forward is set to host a bounceback campaign next season.
Throughout his time in Denver, Porter Jr. averaged 16.2 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game for the Nuggets.
His best scoring campaign took place during the 2020-21 NBA season, where he averaged 19.0 points per game. However, fans will see him surpass that number during the 2025-26 NBA season, according to anonymous net executives.
“Of course we’re transitioning the roster. We’re going to play a lot of young players, but we need a vet to balance that. Of course we need to score some points.
“Porter helps us to Ton there. I’m not saying he’ll win a scoring title, but I think it’s close,” the executive told Hoops Wire.
