The Los Angeles advance to the NL Division Series after beating the Cincinnati Reds 8-4 in Game 2 of the Wild Card Series.
The will face the NLDS’ Philadelphia Phillies with Game 1 scheduled for Saturday, October 4th. The first game of the series will take place at Citizens Bank Park, home to the Phillies, one of the toughest places in the league. This will be the first series between these two powers since 2009.
This is the first time the have not opened the series at their NLDS home since 2021, when they faced the San Francisco giants.
Los Angeles scored 18 runs in the wildcard series. The offense was on fire in these two games, scoring 28 hits and five home runs (all appeared in Game 1).
Pitching, especially starting pitching, was right out while the offense was at work. Blake Snell and Yoshinobu Yamamoto brought their A-games and proved why they were the aces of the rotation.
On Monday, Snell was dominant. He pitched an astounding seven innings, hitting nine batters with four hits, two runners acquired and 91 pitches. Yamamoto was just as good, pitching 6.2 innings and only allowed four hits, two runs and nine strikeouts on 113 pitches.
manager Dave Roberts was completely confident in the 26-year-old Japanese sense before the match.
“What I’ve learned is that he’s very well prepared for his preparation, very intentional in his preparation,” Roberts said. I learned he has the ability to make pitches when he needs to. He always seems to be the best option.
“If you’re talking about players from last year to this year, you’d think he’s number one on the growth chart.
The bullpen once again left people with more questions than answers. But when I ask La Utility Man Kiké Hernández, he is a little less worried.
“I don’t give sh*t about the bullpen, they will show up.”
LA has now won 11 titles from title No. 9, and their biggest challenge is undoubtedly ahead of them.
‘ two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani starts in Game 1 of the series. It was his first time pitching for the in the postseason.
