Are the Boston Celtics working silently to stop trading in Giannis’ Anteto Compo?
After the Boston Celtics’ disappointing playoff exit and Jason Tatum’s injury, the team has many necessary changes.
The Celtics’ $500 million wage bill is no longer sustainable. Especially since then Grousbecks chose to sell the team.
So it is expected that some Celtic stars will move. The Celtics have begun listening to the Jrue Holiday offer, but Derrick White could potentially trade as well.
Outside of Jason Tatum, the Celtics want all the stars. But how does this mean that they are secretly working on trade to land Giannis Antetocompo?
Former Celtics player Marcus Morris spoke to Yahoo Sports’ Vincent Goodwill about Boston’s future. He believes GM Brad Stevens may have something big planned.
“It was so funny to see the Celtics happy to listen to Jalen Brown and Derrick White’s calls. It was a bit despicable. It doesn’t mean the players are doing something bad, but I think that’s ahead of Giannis.
“Think of Giannis from the Boston Celtics jersey.. Those are conversations where I see what’s going on.
“It puts Milwaukee in a great place, bringing Jalen Brown back to 28 and Derrick White back to 30. You keep a bit of a good core unharmed.
“If I were Giannis, I would definitely take a step back and say, “Wait, Boston is a great place.” You know, they have great coaching staff, great senior management positions, so I think that’s something we should keep an eye on. ”
What if Giannis Antetokounmpo isn’t the only star the Celtics are watching? The future of Giannis Bucks and trade requests can go either way.
NBA insider Brett Siegel spoke about Kevin Durant’s situation after the latest report. While he points to the Timberwolves and birds of prey, looking at Durant as a rental like Kawi Leonard in 2019; Siegel also wondered if the Celtics were doing the same thing.
“What if the Celtics are one of the mystery teams talking behind the scenes about getting Durant as a rental to cut costs? I don’t think the team can make the overall money workbut it’s definitely interesting to discuss. ”
Durant initially called for trade with the Boston Celtics in 2022while he was still with the net. It’s hard to imagine that interest in Durant has been shaking for years since then.
The Celtics have a lot of moves to make this offseason. Without Jason Tatum they can’t compete in the East.
And along with so many big bill players in their books, They have to start throwing out some paycheck from their bills. Whether or not the Celtics make a big hit with big chicks, expect to be a big player this offseason.
