Latest news on Cole Palmer’s recent injuriesFormer Chelsea Academy star overtaking PalmerBest Signature since Hazard & Kante: Boley hits gold on Chelsea’s “genius”

Chelsea currently has a great position under boss Enzo Maresca, looking to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League, before winning a Champions League spot next season.

The Bruce now has a 1 point advantage over fifth Manchester City, who holds the card back in Europe’s biggest competition with just nine games in 2024/25.

However, the Italian would want to correct his recent slump where he saw his team lose three of his past five league outings with the Champions League football outlook that will benefit the club a lot.

If they return to their best form, many hope that the injuries suffered by one player are not serious, allowing him to have a positive impact between the present and the end of the campaign.

Latest news on Cole Palmer’s recent injuries

Attacker Cole Palmer has struggled to produce his best form in recent weeks, failing to register a single goal or assist since a 2-2 draw against Bournemouth on January 14th.

However, his drought may appear to be extended further after his recent withdrawal from the English team after a muscle injury picked up in training last week.

The 22-year-old missed a 1-0 defeat at the Emirates at the Emirates last Sunday, retreating from international obligations, and was later treated by medical staff in West London.

Palmer was sent for his second scan earlier this week and decided on his return timeline in the hopes of being able to return on April 3rd due to a clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

His time on the sideline, coupled with his lack of influence, could allow him to depart when Fitt sees the outscore of one former academy star, the club’s talisman.

Former Chelsea Academy star overtaking Palmer

Palmer has endured a passionate form of running to his usual standards in recent weeks, but he still stars in the campaign, registering 14 goals and six assists in his previous 33 appearances.

He has scored the most league goals of the players on Maresca’s team and has proven to be worth all the £40 million commissions forked for his signature in 2023.

However, while the attacker signed between the windows, the club also allowed another player to depart in the form of academy star Malik Mazayu.

The 21-year-old spent three years at Cobham after joining Leighton Orient in 2020, turning his eyes at various young people levels in his goalscoring exploits.

Mothersille registered 19 goals as blue, but it wasn’t enough to force himself into the senior ranks.

The attacker, dubbed “outstanding” by journalist John Veral, moved from strength to strength after joining Peterborough in September 2023 on a free transfer.

He managed six goals and five assists in all competitions in the last campaign, but again found a touch of scoring in 2024/25, playing a major role in the relegation battle.

Morhersille has registered 15 goals and eight assists for the Darren Ferguson man, and is now sitting as the top scorer, which has led him to overtake Palmer.

It’s great to see such a promising young man finally finds his feet in the professional game, starts to move his talent from the youth level, and then he can make a name for himself.

It may be just League One, but his recent record is evidence of the great work done by the academy in West London, allowing the club to produce talent like it was 21 years old in the future.
