The Chicago Bulls displayed their current latest roster during their statement of victory over La Lakers.
The 115-146 loss was just an “off night” for the LA Lakers, but it was a big win for the Chicago Bulls, who were fired by Josh Giddey Triple Double.
Coby White led the team with 36 points and showed off his development, showing off his development on the night when Matas Buzelis really stood out and scored 31.
The game is Buzelis’ highest scorer game in the NBA and continues to showcase the possibility that he won Kevin Durant’s praise in the 11th draft in 2024.
And for one of the former NBA stars with ties to the Bulls, it backed up some eye-opening comparisons.
Kendall Gill was the fifth overall pick in the 1990 NBA Draft and played for the Chicago Bulls during the 2003-04 season.
He is now a postgame analyst for the Chicago Sports Network and was excited to see Matas Buzelis’ career night in victory over the Lakers.
Gill believes that the 20-year-old Buselis talent is comparable to the Cooper Flag, who is expected to become the number one pick in the 2025 draft.
He says that while the flag has great potential, Buselis has shown it to LeBron James and Luca Donsic, proving that he can compete with the best.
Gill said: “He’s a good player, he’s a really good player, but you’re talking about Matas Buzelis here.
“He’s going to be just right. We’re just looking at the tip of the iceberg. We’re looking at the way he shot the three-point ball tonight.
He added: When Matas Buselis said he was in the same class as Cooper Flag, a lot of people got on board with me.
Kendall Gill made the comparison in early February after trading Zach Labine.
He warned against the tanking strategy, claiming via score via 670, avoiding hosting the show.
Gill explained: “I know his advantage is incredible. Many people can “lose and get a draft pick and get a Cooper Flag sweepstakes.”
“I listened to me and saw Matas break down when he played Cooper Flag one-on-one, and I saw it with my own eyes.
“He’s bigger and he can handle basketball better. In my opinion, he’s more athletic and both have the same mentality, but I like his athleticism more and he likes his mentality than Cooper Flag.
“Three years from now, Kendall says he’s right.”
Matas Buzelis averages 7.7 points per game this season, but since the All-Star break he has jumped from 6.6 ppg to 12.1 ppg.
The Bulls’ victory keeps them ninth in the Eastern Conference, running 7-3 in the final 10 innings, guaranteeing they’re a play-in tournament bound, potentially falling into the draft lottery and the Land Cooper flag.
