The Chicago Bulls are not a team at the top of nobody’s minds at the moment amid the Lukadon Chic trend, but they’re quietly building something.
Coby White and Josh Giddey are becoming Cornerstone Standard Players, breaking records in the latter, especially his all-around games.
The Chicago Bulls are still only 9th in the Eastern Conference, but they certainly have seen enough this season and will feel hopeful about the upcoming season with the right additions and breakthroughs.
The addition they want is ideally in line with what they made too long ago. They are said to have gotten a player they have “crave for years.”
The Bulls have historical statistics on Coby White’s explosiveness, Nikola Vucevic’s reliability, and Josh Giddy’s all-around game.
However, it’s easy to look around the NBA and point to filming what every team needs one at a time.
What happens in scenarios like these is that players who can shoot at good speeds are drilling holes in the catch-and-shoot role when they can do more.
That’s exactly what the Bulls are realising now after the deal that took place on February 3, 2025, sending Zach Labine for Kevin Harter.
Huerter was a victim of a “catch-and-shoot mentality” with the King, and the Bulls are now said to have far more Huerters from Kendall Gill, and are showing it now.
He states: “It’s the shooter the Bulls have been eager to see for years and they’ve gotten into this deal. Kevin Harter is really good for this team.
“But in this new system, he gets the ball on the move, in the way Billy wants him to play.
“He brings all these intangible assets. He can bring something to both sides of the ball.”
Huerter is now enjoying his basketball, and the Eye Test matches what the numbers say.
Since being traded by the Kings, Huerter has taken on average season highs on all metrics, showing how much he struggles in Sacramento and feels freed in Chicago.
team | game | Min | PTS | Reb | AST | STL | FG% | 3pt% |
Bulls | twenty four | 30.5 | 13.2 | 3.3 | 3.1 | 1.2 | 43.8% | 37% |
king | 43 | 20.9 | 7.9 | 2.8 | 1.7 | 0.8 | 41.3% | 30.2% |
The 26-year-old Huerter is also in an age where the timeline matches with 25 and 22 White and Giddey, respectively.
Another leap is also very possible as Huerter shows him in 2022/23 that there are different levels of his game, as he shows him with the king in 2022/23.
If the Bulls can unlock that level, there is a legitimate trio that can act as banana peels, if not entirely competitors for the rest of the NBA.
