Spencer Dinwiddy discusses Anthony Davis’ integration into the Dallas Mavericks team.
The world of Anthony Davis was upside down when he was traded with the Dallas Mavericks by the La Lakers as part of Luka Donsic’s deal.
Amidst all the fuss in Dallas where Don Sic was traded, Davis was placed in an uncomfortable position, even before he was injured in his debut.
Speaking in an interview, Davis admitted his celebration in his debut, screaming “I’m here.” This was intended as a sense of security for Mavs fans who were protesting outside Arena.
Davis is now recovering from his adductor tension and has played five games over the past two weeks.
Spencer Dinwiddy played with Anthony Davis for the Los Angeles Lakers at the end of the 2023-24 season and knows what the big names can do.
He recognizes the pressure that Davis is in Dallas, but at the same time he knows how much it means to fans if the superstar proves successful.
Dinwiddie told a press conference following his victory at The Hawks:
The former Brooklyn Nets star continued to say he believes he focuses on Davis’ situations rather than actually playing basketball.
Dinwiddie explained:
“From injuries to new situations, new play calls, all new situations. I sometimes feel like he was thinking of a hoop.
“You need one of the greatest players of all time to hoop a bit.
Spencer Dinwiddie knows what Anthony Davis can do and wants to keep him at a high standard.
He set rough expectations in terms of points and rebounds. This is what he surpassed in a 120-118 victory in Atlanta.
“I’m feeling well, I’m taking the rhythm and not thinking much about it. I’m hoping for a performance like 25-15. I know it’s got a bit better tonight, but that’s literally his average.
“That’s what we expect.”
Mavs Next Games is a real test and faces back-to-back night LA Clippers, which can close the gap between the two teams.
