Arsenal legend Sol Campbell appears to be questioning the decision to sign Noni Madueke from Chelsea, as the deal is nearing completion.
It’s fair to say that the full agreement is coming close, according to Athletics and others, and that it’s not going very well with Arsenal’s fanbase.
We have seen a v. maduke petition appear online, but depending on the contract, even “Arteta Out” graffiti appears near Emirates Stadium.
Campbell seems a bit confused by the deal, even though he hasn’t called for manager Mikel Arteta to be fired.
Arsenal needs to explain a transfer decision like Noni Maduce, Gunners legend Sol Campbell says
Talking to the Metro, Campbell said it might be helpful for Arsenal to explain to the fans the players’ plans that were brought to the fans.
“I’ve seen him play, but he’s a very dynamic and sustained player and it can cause problems when he gets into the final third.
“I think most people are probably thinking, ‘Do we need him?’ He’s a quality player, but I think the club needs to explain why they’re getting a certain player and how it fits into our system.
“It’s important to explain that to the players and fans.”
What can Madueke offer Arsenal?
Madueke is primarily the right winger, so his arrival mostly will arrive at Arsenal, and may want depth behind Bukayosaka.
The North London Giants really struggled when Saka was injured for most of last season, but Madueke could be a more reliable cover, or a good rotation option to keep Saka from burning out again.
England International can also play on the left side, so after the inconsistent form of both Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Torosad last season, they can give the AFC something a little different in that division.
