The former NBA player compares the traded Dallas Mavericks star to Lukadon Sic.
Luka Doncic is a generational talent and a leading candidate for becoming the next face of the NBA.
Given that he already has a CV stacked up at the age of 26, you’d assume he’s an unruly asset, right? But the Dallas Mavericks traded him for the La Lakers, so they thought differently.
However, this is not the first time MAV has traded players like Luka, former NBA player Channing Frye argued.
Despite being down 3-1 against the Indiana Pacers, it’s hard to deny Jalen Brunson’s incredible run in the 2025 NBA playoffs.
In fact, many Mavs fans were saddened as the franchise had both Branson and Don Sic until 2022.
Speaking of Branson, former NBA player Channing Frye recently claimed that the Knicks star has a similar playing style to Don Sic.
“I like Branson. He plays like Luka. Luka and Branson play exactly the same. It’s not really a hot take,” Fry claimed via the Road Trippin podcast.
He added: “He hijacks attacks from time to time. Everyone sees it. We’ve seen this happen in Luka.
However, Frye was not finished as he further criticized the duo.
“Branson and Luka are players of the same style.”
Doncic and Brunson joined Mavericks in the same year, spending their formative years in the NBA in Dallas.
Branson wasn’t the star of today when he was Maverick, but the 3x NBA All-Star holds Don Sic in its maxim.
That was clear from what Branson said about his bond with the current Lakers superstar.
“That’s my brother. We drafted the draft together. I’ve seen him now and have seen him grow up since he first met him.
“It’s always been special whether he opposes him and him, as he’s a top five (NBA) player and MVP candidate year after year, so it’s always been special. I just love him.”
It’s great to see the two former stars share a great relationship despite not being a teammate.
