The Dallas Mavericks were blessed with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
When the Dallas Mavericks fanbase turned on the franchise, it was certainly a post of Luka Donsic Trade Juisco’s blessing.
With the top picks of the 2025 NBA Draft, Mavs was able to easily decide. Choose the Duke Blue Devils Cooper Flag.
It was the easiest decision to draft, as Mavs currently has a potential generation of superstars on the roster. That being said, is there any players you can compare Flag?
When fans talk about stars of a generation, they often think about things like LeBron James and Stephen Curry.
They are unique superstars that have barely been compared to their predecessors. With that in mind, PJ Washington of Mavericks believes Flagg belongs to the same category.
“To be honest, I think it’s a bit strange to try and compare him. He can do everything on an elite level. At his age, that separates him,” Washington told RG’s DJ Siddiqi.
In the context, Flagg is only 18 years old, with only a few listed positions. However, according to Washington, Flag is not limited to his position.
“He’s very long and tall, he can play both ends of the floor.
Flag averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game, shooting 48.1% from the field and 38.5% from the NCAA’s three points.
If he could translate these numbers into the NBA in his newcomer year, Washington’s points would prove.

The 2024-25 NBA season was an unforgettable campaign for MAVS. After all, not only did they face major Flaks to trade Anthony Davis and Don Sic, but the organization also missed the postseason.
However, with Flag on the roster for next season, we’re sure Washington will do something special.
“I think Cooper is really good. I think he’s a really good player. Obviously, he’s going to have the opportunity to be really special here in Dallas,” Washington continued.
“He’s so happy because he has the opportunity to play with Kylie, the ads and others. Everyone is excited. The whole city is excited.
It will be interesting to see what Mavericks achieves on the Flag on the roster. Additionally, head coach Jason Kidd has already hinted at Flagg, the team’s point guard next season.
So it solves team problems in point guard positions as Kyrie Irving recovered from a torn ACL injury.
