The Denver Nuggets also appear to be considering competing for free agents that the LA Lakers have long looked at.
The Denver Nuggets pushed this offseason to rebuild their roster after what was their Topsitterby season.
The Nugget appeared as one of the biggest winners of free agency, signing and landing several big names, including Bruce Brown and Tim Hardaway Jr.
It was a very successful offseason for the Nuggets, revealing they are ready to compete in the NBA Championship.
However, Nuggets also look to another star who is expected to become a free agent soon. And it appears that Nuggets will have to compete with La Lakers, who is also interested in him.
Bennett Durand of the Denver Post recently created a piece during the Denver Nuggets offseason. He noted that Kevin Love is expected to be acquired by the Utah Jazz.
The Lakers are my favorite, but he presented love as an option for the Nuggets. Especially because he has experience with Nuggets head coach David Adelman while he’s together with the Timberwolves.
“He’s already linked to other teams, but one idea worth throwing out there is Kevin Love. The 37-year-old is widely expected to be traded or acquired by Utah before the season.
“Maybe he gets an encore in Cleveland or joins one of the Los Angeles teams. But why Denver has had a previous relationship since the year overlapping with the Timberwolves.
“Love also played high school ball near Portland, Oregon, losing the 2005 state championship game to Jesuit High School.
The Denver Nuggets can definitely try to land Kevin’s love, but it will be a difficult job to compete with the highly driven La Lakers front office.
The Lakers struggle with wings and size depth as DeAndre Ayton, Jackson Hayes, Jake Laravia and LeBron James are the biggest players.
In comparison, Denver’s Nuggets have more options in their division. At the end of the day, the decision that a greater role may be prioritized comes down to love.
What’s more, the advantage of love playing with LeBron James for a long time could play a factor no matter what decision he makes
