Israel Adesanya was very impressed with her performance in Kamza Chimayev’s championship victory at UFC 319.
Chimaev dominated Doricus Duplesis in five rounds in Saturday’s pay-per-view card main event in Chicago, winning the middleweight title, improving his record to 15-0.
Former two-time UFC middleweight champion Adesanya watched the match and recorded his reaction on his YouTube channel.
“New middleweight champion, yeah, yeah, this division is in good hands,” Adesanya said.
Chimaev quickly set the tone of a fight of less than 10 seconds, securing takedowns and neutralisation duplesis throughout the first round, keeping the “still” in the cross position due to the huge chunks of the round. Domination continued throughout the fight, with Chimehv winning 10-8 in the third round.
Duplesis spent a brief moment in the fifth round where he was trying to achieve a full mount and lock the choke in the rear, but Chimehv was able to survive and secure his championship victory. All three judges won 50-44 in favor of the new champion.
Like most people who saw it, Adesanya was impressed by Chimeh’s aerobic exercise throughout the 25 minutes.
“I wasn’t expecting,” Adesanya explained. “But I’m pleased that Khamzat has fixed his aerobic exercise, or I’ve improved his aerobic exercise so he can go five rounds and make the doll tattered.
“It’s a mess. I thought it was DDP, round four, maybe four rounds, so that’s a mess. He didn’t slow down the DDP because he gets tired. He didn’t slow him down. The first wind came out and just choked him.”
