Sky Sports F1 commentator Harry Benjamin highlighted the harsh emotional contrast between Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclair following the Emilia Romana Grand Prix.

Ferrari fought back from the double Q2 elimination, with two cars finishing in the top six.

Hamilton scored the best results of the 2025 Formula 1 season, finishing fourth.

Leclerc finished in sixth place after virtual and safety car timing didn’t play in his hands.

After the race, Hamilton was positive about the advancements he made in recent races.

Meanwhile, Leclair was disappointed by the lack of performance from Ferrari compared to McLaren and Red Bull.

Speaking about the latest episode of the Sky F1 podcast, Benjamin noticed a clear difference between Hamilton and Leclair.

“I think he’ll be optimistic with that and move it forward,” Benjamin said.

“I think he absolutely smokes after the race, especially where Miami actually had all the amazing bits of Team Radio, but I think he was pretty unchipper.

“The next issue is that they need to either bring that car back to the podium or return it to a race-winning challenger, which is where Hamilton is confident at the moment.

“Charles Leclerc seems incredibly discouraged – on the complete opposite side of the spectrum compared to Hamilton. Bringing such energy won’t help Leclerc on his home weekend for Monaco.”

Ferrari’s disappointing 2025 season

Ferrari finished last year as McLaren’s closest challenger, scoring just 14 points in the Constructors Championship.

This year, Ferrari is already 165 points away after just seven races.

Scuderia has only one podium with the name, and Leclerc placed third in Saudi Arabia.

Last year, slow performance was their strength, allowing Leclerc to win their home race in Monaco, but it was a weakness in 2025.

Evaluating Ferrari as a whole, Benjamin added: “As far as the car I brought this year, I’ve been a little unstable from the Ferrari. Last year, it was slower and the twist of fate was better and it changed again.

“They may be trying to put a bit of a pinpointment on this technical command change in Spain, but that’s not what Ferrari should do. At the end of last year, they were inside a shot in the Constructors Championship with McLaren.

“They were the second best team in theory at the end of last year. They should have popped out of the block at the beginning of the season, like McLaren did.”
