Liverpool forward Cody Gakupo is reportedly one name being watched by Bayern Munich this summer, but it may not all look like it is.
According to CHCHIRN FALK, there are suspicions in Bayern that Gakpo is using their interest to land a new contract with Liverpool.
The Netherlands International has been a key player for Liverpool since he joined from PSV and it seems unlikely that they would like to let him go.
Still, it will be interesting to see if the Reds are supposed to give Gakupo a new contract to shut down these transfer rumors completely.
Christian Folk from those Cody Gakupo to Bayern Munich transfer stories
Discussing the latest information on Gakupo’s future, Falk said: “We heard that Cody Gakupo can imagine signing a new deal in Liverpool, so we don’t know yet whether Bayern Munich is just being used as a poker pawn.
“In the past, when Uli Hoenes was involved in the relocation, Bayern always had plans when it came to transfers, but Plan B was never there. Now Max Ebal works differently. There are many players on the list.
“Bayern realizes that bringing players from Liverpool to Munich is not an easy feat. This is why they are checking out the alternatives available in the market.”
Liverpool should maintain Cody Gakupo
Liverpool has some of the best offensive players. Gakupo is definitely one of them.
The 26-year-old finishes the 2024/25 season with 18 goals and six assists in every LFC competition, and it seems pointless to let him go.
The Merseyside giants did well to bring Mohamed Sarah into a new contract. According to Athletic, they also turned down Barcelona’s interest in Luis Diaz.
If the attacking player leaves Anfield this summer, it’s certainly Darwin Nunes, and perhaps Diogo Jota if the right offer comes.
