“To be honest, there’s more left in the tank,” Lynn said. “All the money seems to be drying up around the league. I didn’t like what I was being offered.”
Lynn revealed why he retired alongside the St. Louis Cardinals, the team he began his career, because there is no real offer.
“I was just going,” Lynn said. “I can end my career as a St. Louis Cardinal in the way I started it. There were a lot of different variables. You didn’t know what this year would involve either. The best part is that the money wasn’t there and I couldn’t leave the house.
Due to his career, Lin ended with a career record of 143-99 in 13 seasons. This includes a 3.74 ERA and two All-Star appearances.
