Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank is reportedly keen to sign Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey during the summer window.
According to former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson, the 24-year-old midfielder certainly has been on the Danish manager’s list, and he could be used for a reasonable amount.
He is not a key player at Aston Villa and believes that Robinson is willing to sanction his departure for a reasonable amount. As he is an academy alumni, his departure is recorded as pure interests of the West Midlands Club.
Thomas Frank watches Ramsey move
“For Aston Villa, he’s a product of the Academy, so it’s going to be a pure profit,” he told Football Insider.
“I think the big thing about Jacob Ramsey is his contract.
“He has this season and remains on a contract next season, so the rates are probably appealing to Aston Villa, but not as high as Tottenham expects.
“I think it’s the benefit that makes for Aston Villa to be able to push the deal on the line.
“Jacob Ramsey is certainly high on Thomas Frank’s list.
“He’s the type of player who will be a good addition to the upcoming Starting XI and team.”
Can Tottenham sign Jacob Ramsey?
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can get the deal done. They can use multipurpose midfielders like him, which can be slotted into multiple roles. He helps create opportunities for teammates and compensate for their technical capabilities.
Tottenham needs more depth in the middle of the park. James Madison is sometimes inconsistent and ideally, with more competition for locations. Ramsey was able to compete with him for the starting spot.
He can also drift across a wide area and can be extremely useful during injuries and rotations. Participating in a Champions League-level club is also ideal for players. Regular football at Tottenham managed to bring out the best of him.
