The 30-year-old outfielder has been struggling with the plate ever since the Los Angeles acquired Alex Cole from Washingtonians on trade deadlines in exchange for pitching prospects.
After starting the 2025 season with an average of 72 games of .274 batting batting average for the Nationals, Cole was batting 0.174 with six strikeouts in his first 13 contests wearing Blue. However, on Tuesday night, Cole appears to have found his swing again, making it 4-5 with a home run and RBI pair.
The outfielder revealed that he received some guidance from the coach batting the , which led to his recent success at the plate.

“I took some hints from hit coaches I have really practiced over the past two days to put me in a better position,” Cole said.
“…I was able to feel the difference from what I was doing tonight from what I was doing. Hopefully we can get on with it.”
The hope from the is that Cole can continue producing like Tuesday’s breakout game, and combined with his elite plate discipline will allow him to turn the outfielder into a devastating weapon.
Calling Chase outside the strike zone is suitable for the 97th percentile of baseball. His swing and 17.4% miss rate is suitable for the 85th percentile of MLB.
His bat is a major priority at the moment, but Call’s defense can provide more relief to Steam teams that need more depth, especially in the outfield.
Call out above the average ranking of 2 places him in the 76th percentile among active fielders, and his arm strength is graded at the 80th percentile of baseball. As the coaching staff appears to be successful in his offense, perhaps his average defense will continue to contribute to the outfielder having the opportunity to show his skill set, keeping him in the column where he won LA.
